DOLCETTO D’ALBA DOC

Dolcetto d'Alba is one of the most popular grape varieties in Piedmont. Thanks to its versatile nature and its lively and fruity taste, it can be drunk every day with almost any type of meal.

Food pairings: Delicate roasts, white meat, grilled or stewed meat, fresh cheese, fish soups, tasty fish, boiled vegetables, pasta, and rice and other dishes typical of Mediterranean cuisine.

Serving temperature 16-18° C.

Harvest: mid September. Crushing of the grapes, taking away the wood from the clusters, and fermentation, in big containers with skins and selected yeasts, at controlled temperature, till the transformation of the natural sugars of the grapes. Decantation of the skins and storage of the wine in suitable containers to guarantee a perfect maturation of the wine. After filtration, bottling at cellar temperature. Recommended consumption within 2 years; however, some good vintages allow later consumption.

Considered today one of the most drunk red wine of the Langhe area, Dolcetto d’Alba is one of the most widespread grape varieties in Piedmont. Its production is allowed in the provinces of Asti and Cuneo and has represented, for centuries, one of the main objects of exchange between Piedmont and Liguria, together with oil, salt and anchovies, although obtaining the DOC only in 1974.
