ALTEFRANGE BARBERA D’ASTI DOCG

Symbolic wine of the Asti hills, it has good acidity, ruby red color when young and more garnet red with age. Rich of soft tannins, Barbera d'Asti is an intense wine with a great matching capacity, suitable for every occasion, to be drunk alone or in company.

Food pairings: red meat roasts, braised meat with wine, white meat, grilled or stewed meat, fresh cheese, fish soups, very tasty fish, boiled vegetables, pasta and rice.

Tasting notes
Grape Variety Barbera.
Colour Deep ruby red when young, getting deeper garnet red tones with ageing.
Bouquet Winy, intense, hints of withered flowers.
Taste Dry, round taste, tannic, suppler after ageing.
Alcoholic content Minimum 12 % vol.
Serving temperature 16-18° C.

Harvest: late September. Crushing of the grapes, taking away the wood from the clusters, and fermentation, in big containers with skins and selected yeasts, at controlled temperature, till the transformation of the natural sugars of the grapes. Decantation of the skins and storage in suitable containers to guarantee a perfect maturation of the wine. Starting from spring, after filtration, bottling of the Barbera Altefrange at cellar temperature.

Recommended consumption within 3 years; however, some good vintages guarantee a perfect ageing till 5-6 years.
